We are delighted to announce that this year Stage 11 (Wednesday 9th September) of the Tour de France starts in Chatelaillon~Plage and finishes in Poitiers and then Stage 12 starts at Chauvigny and continuing out of the region on the 10th September. This means the race passes within an hour of La Voyette our Chambre d’hote in the Loire Valley.

We have created a holiday package available for a total of four guests for this wonderful event.
You will be required to book and pay for your own flights and we have based this package on your flights from and to London Stansted arriving at Poitiers Airport and return from Tours Airport both just over an hour away from us which is operated by Ryanair. There are two twin bedrooms with en suite facilities available in our delightful B & B and prices are based on two people sharing a room. Evening Meals with wine are included where stated as is a Picnic Hamper lunch on Day 3 of your stay. All other meals (light lunches) and drinks while out and about are payable by yourselves. While here at La Voyette as guests you will have the use of our large sitting room and a further reception room in which you can relax along with many places to sit in the garden. You will also have the use of our hybrid bikes and above ground swimming pool as you require.

Day 1 – Monday 7th September.   You will be collected from Poitiers airport (arrival time 16.45) and driven to our delightful Chambre D’hote. You will be welcomed and shown to your room followed by a four-course evening meal with drinks when you can get to know us (your host), other guests and the house and garden.

Day 2 – Tuesday 8th September.
After your continental breakfast we will take you into Chinon, our local town, where you can stroll around the medieval streets, visit the Fortresse and then maybe sit and have yourself some lunch and a glass of beer or wine (not included). After your break we will take you on a wine tour at a local vineyard or two where you will get the opportunity to taste the produce.
You will return to la Voyette for a relaxing evening and a four-course evening meal with drinks..

Day 3 – Wednesday 9th September
After a continental breakfast we will head off to our chosen location in plenty of time to settle ourselves into position on the route of the Tour de France. As is very traditional with the French, we will have a delightful picnic hamper and drinks while we soak up the atmosphere and hopefully the sun while we await the arrival of the ‘Caravan’ followed by the competitors themselves. At this stage of the day there could be a lone rider or two before the main peloton reaches us and its always fun to look out for the cyclists in their high-profile jerseys.
Once the cyclists and the long stream of supporting cars with spare bikes on roof racks have disappeared into the distance, we will make our way back to la Voyette for an evening of food and wine.

Day 4 – Thursday 10th September
Potentially an early start so we can take ‘breakfast’ with us to eat en route as we head down to our vantage point for Stage 12 of the race. We will be able to enjoy the different atmosphere as we experience the beginning phase of a Stage and again watch the Caravan, competitors and support teams whiz past! We will meander back to la Voyette taking in views and stopping off for some lunch in a local town (not included in our price).
The rest of the day will be relaxing at la Voyette with an evening meal with drinks to look forward to at the end of a busy day!

Day 5 – Friday 11th September
You will start your day with a relaxed Continental breakfast. You will then have the option of  enjoying your morning relaxing at la Voyette or to be taken into Richelieu a wonderful walled town a ten minutes drive from us. In the afternoon we will take you on a guided tour of some of our local places of interest along the river – Candes St Martin, Montsoreau and Chouze sur Loire. Returning to la Voyette for the evening meal and drinks.

Day 6 – Saturday 12th September.  An early start, so breakfast will be served bright and early and we will leave la Voyette to travel to Tours airport where you will catch you flight back to Stansted at 9.25 (arriving back in England at 9.45!).

This holiday package is available at 500 euros per person.

Our two bedroom, detached gite is also currently available for a rent of £541.14 for the week commencing 5th September 2020.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for further information and to book.

Kevin and Denise

A short Winter break in the Loire Valley, France

We have just hosted a group of six here at La Voyette. A cosy weekend for friends to get together, relax and catch up – here is their review.

A fantastic weekend in La Voyette. Denise and Kev are fabulous hosts who looked after us from the moment we arrived at the airport until we were safely dropped off back. Nothing is too much trouble. Fantastic food and wine- some of which we chose for ourselves on one of our wine tasting trips out with Kev. The house is warm and comfortable and was an ideal venue for our adult party of 6. Kev and Denise catered for us and the food was fabulous. We all ate and drank together, learning about France and the local area.
This is rural France as it’s best, even in February it’s a lovely area to visit.
Can’t recommend spending some time here enough.
Thank you Denise and Kev and hope to see you again soon. Nerissa and Dave
