TOUR DE FRANCE 2020 in the Loire Valley

We are delighted to announce that this year Stage 11 (8th July) of the Tour de France starts in Chatelaillon~Plage and finishes in Poitiers and then starts at Chauvigny and continuing out of the region on the 9th (Stage 12). This means the race passes within an hour of La Voyette our Chambre d’hote in the Loire Valley.

We have created a holiday package available for a group of up to five people for this wonderful event.
You will be required to book and pay for your own flights and we have based this package on flights arriving to and leaving from Poitiers Airport which Ryanair fly into from London Stanstead. There are three twin bedrooms with en suite facilities available in our delightful B & B and prices are based on two people sharing a room. Evening Meals with wine are included where stated as is a Picnic Hamper lunch on Day 3 of your stay. All other meals (light lunches) and drinks while out and about are payable by yourselves. While here at La Voyette as guests you will have the use of our large sitting room and a further reception room in which you can relax along with many places to sit in the garden. You will also have the use of our hybrid bikes and above ground swimming pool as you require.

Day 1 – Monday 6th July
You will be collected from Poitiers airport (arrival time 16.45) and driven to our delightful Chambre D’hote. You will be welcomed and shown to your room followed by a four-course evening meal with drinks when you can get to know us, your hosts, and the house and garden.

Day 2 – Tuesday 7th July
After your continental breakfast we will take you into Chinon, our local town, where you can stroll around the medieval streets, visit the Fortresse and then maybe sit and have yourself some lunch and a glass of beer or wine (not included). After your break we will take you on a wine tour at a local vineyard or two where you will get the opportunity to taste the produce.
You will return to la Voyette for a relaxing evening and a four-course evening meal with drinks..

Day 3 – Wednesday 8th July
After a continental breakfast we will head off to our chosen location in plenty of time to settle ourselves into position on the route of the Tour de France. As is very traditional with the French, we will have a delightful picnic hamper and drinks while we soak up the atmosphere and hopefully the sun while we await the arrival of the ‘Caravan’ followed by the competitors themselves. At this stage of the day there could be a lone rider or two before the main peloton reaches us and its always fun to look out for the cyclists in their high-profile jerseys.
Once the cyclists and the long stream of supporting cars with spare bikes on roof racks have disappeared into the distance, we will make our way back to la Voyette for an evening of food and wine.

Day 4 – Thursday 9th July
Potentially an early start so we can take ‘breakfast’ with us to eat en route as we head down to our vantage point for Stage 12 of the race. We will be able to enjoy the difference atmosphere as we experience the beginning phase of a Stage and again watch the Caravan, competitors and support teams whiz past! We will meander back to la Voyette taking in views and stopping off for some lunch in a local town (not included in our price).
The rest of the day will be relaxing at la Voyette with an evening meal with drinks to look forward to at the end of a busy day!

Day 5 – Friday 10th July
You will start your final day with a relaxed Continental breakfast. You will then have the option of either enjoying your last morning relaxing at la Voyette or to be taken into Richelieu a wonderful walled town just fifteen minutes from us. Either way we will depart at 14.00 to make the journey to Poitier Airport where you will catch your 17.10 flight back to Stanstead (arriving back in England at 17.35!)

This holiday package, based on five people booking at the same time and sharing three twin bedrooms, is available at 480 euros per person.

Our two bedroom, detached gite is also currently available for a rent of 650 euros for the week commencing 4th July 2020.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for further information and to book.
