Le Grand Ballet is a small hamlet set in open countryside between the Loire and Vienne rivers and is only 6km from the medieval town of Chinon. The majority of houses are made from the local excavated limestone and typically have their large gardens to include a vegetable plot and fruit trees. There are quiet lanes, woods and vineyards nearby with plenty of opportunities for walking, cycling and sightseeing by car.
The gîte for self-catering is set in the heart of the Loire National Park close to Chinon which is the major centre of commerce in the area. The town is steeped in conjoined history with Great Britain (Joan of Arc, Henry II Plantagenet , Richard the Lionheart) and also the home town of Rabelais the French author and Visionary. Here you will find many restaurants and shops.
